The Explorers Club Annual Dinner is, like a lot of events held in the Waldorf=Astoria’s glittering ballroom in New York City, ostensibly for charity. But the club, which “promotes the scientific exploration of land, sea, air and space” through its sponsorship of expeditions, is more fun than most not-for-profits. Hence: pig-eyeball eating, kangaroo boxing, and a performance by Andrew WK. Also cocktails and E.O. Wilson. (Watch a full screen version on our site here and click on the lower righthand corner of the frame.)

Here are a few photos from the night’s festivities, which included 1,000 explorers from all over the world. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better-traveled group anywhere.

A big thanks to Anthony Subietas for all his excellent work on this project.
