3 min readWe at the ADVENTURE editorial office in New York City were honored to learn that the magazine has won a handful of awards—ten, in fact, including Best Travel Magazine—in the Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Awards, a competition administered by the Society of American Travel Writers Foundation. While perusing the list of winners, we were impressed, again, by the incredible adventures reported by our contributors. If you’re looking for some inspiration or need an armchair escape, consider giving these articles a read.

Gold: National Geographic Adventure, John Rasmus, Editor-in-Chief
Judges’ Comments: This travel magazine makes the most of its parent brand (National Geographic) and comes through with stunning photography and gripping storytelling. The overall presentation is fun and challenging. Writers such as Sebastian Junger provide personal, well-researched and reported articles that fill out the feature well. Front-of-book and back-of-book departments provide lots of service. Content varies from must-have gear and best trip packages to an account of an expedition to the Congo.
